Boil Your Water Before Drinking or Food Preparation to Avoid Illness

Due to the recent water outage, which occurred on January 6, 2026, the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the Tulare County Health Department, and the Earlimart Public Utilities District (PUD) Water System are advising customers of Earlimart PUD to only use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution to avoid stomach or intestinal illness. The affected area includes: Customers of Earlimart PUD
We will inform you when tests show that water is safe to drink, and you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate resolving the problem within 5-8 days.
If you have questions about other uses of tap water, such as bathing and dish washing, please call your water system or read this guidance: https://waterboards.ca.gov/drinking_water/certlic/drinkingwater/documents/notices/cdc_wtd_bw_advisory.docx
Do not drink the water without boiling it first
Boil all water for one (1) minute (rolling boil).
Let water cool before drinking.
Use boiled or bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.
Boiling water kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
If you are unable to boil your water:
Household unscented liquid bleach
For clear water, use 8 drops (1/8 tsp.) of bleach for 1 gallon of water. For cloudy water, filter through a clean cloth and use 16 drops (1/4 tsp.) of bleach for 1 gallon of water.
Mix well. Allow to stand for 30 minutes before using.
Water may taste or smell like chlorine. This means disinfection has occurred.
Water disinfection tablets
Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

It is with deep sadness that Earlimart School District shares the passing of former longtime ESD educator, Sharon Lee Boaz, who passed away on November 3, 2025.

Sharon was an educator for more than 40 years, including over 30 years of dedicated service to Earlimart School District from August 27, 1974, through June 30, 2005. A kind but firm and highly respected kindergarten teacher, she was known for her strong character, high expectations, and the meaningful, lasting impact she made on generations of Earlimart students and families.

Sharon, along with her husband Dr. Bruce Boaz, contributed greatly to Earlimart School District and to the Earlimart community. Their shared commitment to education and to the children of Earlimart remains an enduring part of our district’s history. Sharon will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Spring 2026.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or American Red Cross are appreciated:

Her strong presence, high expectations, and dedication shaped generations of Earlimart students and families. She will be deeply missed.” At the bottom, centered text reads “Rest in Peace.”
ESD Alumni Spotlight: Lidia Flores (née Lidia Diaz) ’09

We’re excited to introduce our Earlimart School District Alumni Spotlight Series — a monthly celebration of former students who proudly represent their Earlimart roots, wherever life has taken them!

Meet Lidia Flores, a proud 2009 alumna of Earlimart Elementary, Alila Elementary, and Earlimart Middle School. Lidia is currently an Instructional Aide at Earlimart School District with aspirations of becoming a High School History teacher. After earning an AA in History from Bakersfield College, she is now pursuing a BA in History at CSU Bakersfield.

Lidia fondly recalls her time on the 8th-grade basketball team and the personal triumph of graduating in the top 10 percent of her class at EMS as an English Learner, a moment that proved her capabilities.

Married to Daniel Flores, Lidia enjoys reading, history, coffee, Star Wars, and exploring new coffee shops and bookstores.

Join us in celebrating Lidia and her journey as one of the many who are Earlimart PROUD!
